PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE NOT PLANNING ANY KAYAK TRIPS DURING 2021.
Our very popular “Wolli from Creek to Crest” kayak trip takes place four times a year. It’s a joint project with the Cooks River Canoe Club who provide kayaks, life jackets, training and the use of their club house on the Cooks River. The Wolli Creek Preservation Society provides commentary on the history and vegetation of the area.
Taking about four hours all up, the morning trip starts with a kayaking induction and safety briefing at the club house. We then head past the junction of the Cooks River and Wolli Creek to paddle through extensive mangroves up to Turrella Reserve. From there, you can lounge in the sun, or take a tour around Turrella Reserve and check out the Fish Ladder at the weir. The tour also visits the Flying Fox camp up at Big Bend or walk up Nannygoat Hill for spectacular 360 degree views.
A leisurely paddle back down the creek finishes with a light lunch at the club house, which is in the parklands not far from Tempe station. No experience is necessary and the Canoe Club train you in basic kayaking skills.
Early registration makes sure you get a place, as places fill up very quickly. Contact info@wollicreek.org.au
